The Web Grabber is a Google Chrome Browser Extension that gives you the ability to grab snapshots of your favourite websites and save them on your machine.
After installing it, an icon will appear next to the address bar in your Google Chrome Browser like the following:
From now on, by clicking on the little “camera” you will activate the Web Grabber for the current Chrome tab open.
As soon as you click on the icon, the current web page will be overlaid by a static image copy of it, this is so you can capture animations in a specific moment in time, and a selector and a toolbar will appear on top of it.
Selector:
This is the tool with which you can select the portion of the web page you want to save.
Drag the red icons to re-size the selection area or double click inside it to expand it to select the entire page.
Double click again if you want to reduce the selection to the previous one.
Toolbar:
The toolbar will always be visible when the Web Grabber is active and it gives you control over the actions to take. You can control the selector by changing its x and y position and also its width and height.
Once you are happy with the selection just click on the “camera” icon and the screen shot is taken!
At any point you can browse all the screen shots taken in the current session by clicking on the “thumbnail” icon next to the “camera” icon.
This will open up a new window like the following:
You can now click on the first icon to download a ZIP file containing all the snapshots taken in this session. Otherwise you can click on the image you want to start downloading it.
To close this window just click “close” on the top right or click again on the “thumbnail” icon next to the “camera” icon in the toolbar.
N.B. When you open this window it could be possible that not all of your snapshots appear straight away, don’t worry just wait, the window refreshes every 5 seconds. If you cannot wait just close and open the window again.
Enjoy!
